New Delhi:
Commuters travelling between Delhi and Gurgaon will not have to pay toll till Monday during rush hours. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has extended the "happy hours" it declared last week to keep the area near the toll plaza in Gurgaon free of traffic jams.
The concessionaire for the toll plaza, located on the Gurgaon-Delhi expressway near Ambience Mall, has been taken to court by the Gurgaon police, which has cited the endless queues of cars waiting to pay their Rs 21 as they pass through.
The court first banned the collection of any tax, and later said toll would not be charged during 8:30-10:00 am and 5:30-7:00 pm.
The court and the police have asked the concessionaire to set up more windows to collect payments and to employ people with hand-held machines who can walk upto waiting cars and settle payments.
The case will next be heard on Monday, October 8.
