Gurgaon: A senior executive of a private firm has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife by pushing her off the balcony of their eighth floor flat in Gurgaon near Delhi, the police said on Monday.
Vikram Chauhan allegedly murdered his wife Deepika Chauhan, 32, on Saturday night after a fight at their home in Ansal Valley View Society on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road.
Deepika, a senior official at a bank, had observed a ritual fast on Karva Chauth festival. She was killed the same night.
According to the complaint filed by Deepika's father, she and Vikram fell in love and married in 2013.
The couple had a four-year-old daughter and a six-month-old son.
Vikram allegedly had an affair with a married woman in the same apartment building.
"She used to frequently visit the couple's apartment, causing discord between Deepika and Vikram," alleged Harikishan Ahuja, Deepika's father.
Mr Ahuja said when Deepika objected to his relationship, Vikram beat her up. On Saturday, Vikram allegedly pushed Deepika off the balcony.
He has been sent to police custody.
