Gurgaon: A man and a woman were killed near the Sheetla Mata temple in Delhi after a barricade, hit by a car, fell on them. The victims were yet to be identified, police said on Tuesday.
The man and the woman, both in her mid-40s, died in the accident that happened on Monday night.
Chanchal Singh, 45, a shopkeeper and resident of a colony near sector 5, was arrested for knocking off the barricade with his speeding car.
"The accused was driving an i-10 that hit a barricade on the main road. The iron barricade fell on people standing there," Sector 5 police station chief Kuldeep Singh told IANS.
"The injured were rushed to a hospital but were declared brought dead," he said.
"Prima facie it looks those killed may be beggars," he added.
Some others also were injured, but doctors attending on them said they were out of danger.
