Guwahati: A day ahead of Independence Day celebrations, an improvised explosive device was recovered today in front of the Makum Forest Training School in Upper Assam.
According to the Assam Police spokesperson, the 4 kg IED was recovered by security personnel this afternoon from the second gate of the school near National Highway-38 under Makum Police Station.
Senior police and army officers rushed to the spot along with the bomb disposal squad, he said.
"The IED was exploded by Army bomb disposal squad at the field of the Forest Training School," the spokesperson said.
Yesterday, powerful explosives meant for attacking LGB International Airport and other major areas in Guwahati were recovered by the police.
