Following an altercation, 2 CRPF troopers kill each other

Guwahati: Two paramilitary troopers killed each other following a heated altercation over a personal matter in Assam, police said Monday.

A police spokesperson said the two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were on duty at a road patrol post at Tetelitol in Golaghat district in eastern Assam late Sunday.

"Probably the two got engaged in a verbal duel and fired at each other with their service weapons," a senior police official said.

Trooper Rugnesh Singh from Rajasthan died on the spot while Venkatesh Berlu from Andhra Pradesh was admitted to a local hospital with bullet injuries on his chest. Venkatesh succumbed to his injuries early Monday.
