Guwahati:
The bodies of two girls have been found close to the Guwahati airport in Assam in what is being suspected to be a case of sexual assault and murder.
While one of the bodies was discovered last night, the other was found in the morning today. The identity of the two girls is not known yet.
Police say an unidentified man allegedly picked up the girls from the VIP Road in Guwahati city on Wednesday evening and took them to the isolated area near the airport, where they spent some time together.
When they were returning towards the city, the man took an arterial road to avoid a police check post on their way, resulting in their car meeting with an accident.
Cops claim one girl died on the spot while the other was left behind by the man, who then fled the spot.
Police have not ruled out sexual assault in the incident and have detained three people so far for further interrogation.
