Hyderabad: In a miraculous escape, a 12-year-old boy in Hyderabad has survived after a sharp metal hook, used to hang mutton in a butcher's shop, accidentally pierced his left eye and further into his skull.
Doctors at Osmania Hospital successfully removed the metal hook and saved the boy.
The patient, Md Baba Qureshi, was conscious when he was brought to the hospital on June 6.
Doctors said they performed the surgery after CT scan and X-ray revealed the complexity of the injury.
A team of doctors headed by neurosurgery head of department Dr Premjit Ray, assistant professor Venugopal and others performed highly sophisticated procedures and removed the metal hook without causing damage to eyeball and brain.
