Hyderabad:
Late on Monday, a stockbroker in Hyderabad drove an SUV to a spot 24 km from his home, his seven-year-old daughter sitting with him. A suitcase and a bag in the boot enclosed a grisly secret - chopped parts of his wife's body.
Rupesh Kumar Mohanani, 36, had fought fiercely with his wife Cynthia the previous day, apparently over their chronic financial problems.
He also suspected that 30-year-old Cynthia, a Congo club dancer he had married eight years ago, was having an affair with a man she met on Facebook.
Rupesh Kumar Mohanani has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife.
The police say in a fit of rage, Mr Mohanani strangled his wife. Their daughter was sleeping.
On Monday morning, he took the child to school and reportedly returned home with a plan.
The police say he used two knives and an axe to cut up his wife's body into pieces and packed them in a suitcase and a bag.
He waited till it was dark and then woke his daughter, asking her to come along for "a drive".
He allegedly drove to what he believed was an isolated spot, sprinkled petrol on the bags and set them on fire, hoping no one would notice.
Unfortunately for him, villagers nearby noticed smoke rising from the bushes. Suspecting something wrong, they called the police.
Mr Mohanani reportedly tried to drive off but the wheels got stuck in mud.
He was arrested by the police in the city's Cyberabad area.
The police say the child doesn't know what happened. She is with her father's parents.
