Hyderabad:
Six prisoners, all convicts in a murder case, who underwent treatment for "mental illness" at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) at Erragadda here, escaped from the prison ward of the hospital on Friday, officials said.
The prisoners from Cherlapally jail, who were admitted to the IMH had undergone treatment for mental illness, they said.
According to IMH Superintendent V Pramod Kumar, "The six prisoners were kept in the prison ward of IMH. However, they managed to give a slip to the escort (of three policemen) after cutting the rods of the ventilator between 2.30 am and 5.00 am today."
