Hyderabad: A nine-year-old boy reported missing by his father was found dead in his uncle's parked car on Saturday.
The boy, Joshua, was reportedly playing near his uncle's house in Hyderabad's Kukatpally area when he hid in the Hyundai i10 car and reportedly locked himself in accidentally. The car was covered, so no one noticed the boy inside it for hours. Joshua is believed to have suffocated to death though the police say it has not been established yet.
The body of the class 2 student was discovered when his uncle, John Nagesh, tried to take out the car to go on a search for his nephew, and found the boy on the front seat.
Mr Nagesh reportedly told the police that he had not used the car for at least a month.
Vijay Babu, the boy's father, reported him missing on Saturday evening. "It is hard to jump to any conclusion at this point. The police are still collecting details," a police officer said. The body has been sent for a post-mortem and investigations are on.
