One person was killed and several others were injured as squally winds with speeds of up to 50 km per hour and thunderstorm caused dramatic destruction in Hyderabad today.
A man was killed when a water tanker fell on him in Bhavani Nagar in the old city. Two labourers were injured when they fell from third floor of a building that they were whitewashing.
More than a dozen others were injured in different incidents in the city.
Five cars parked outside a car showroom were crushed by a huge hoarding which fell on them due to the heavy wind in the Banjara Hills area. No one was injured in the incident.
Police says a case will be filed against the people who put up the hoarding if any violations are found.
In other parts of the city, trees were uprooted, causing traffic jams and damage to property.
The police and municipal authorities are working very hard to clear the roads.

Such winds blow because of cumulonimbus clouds (extremely dense, huge and vertically developed) that are formed for half hour to an hour and lead to thunderstorm, squally wind activity within a couple of hours over a five-six km radius.
