Three Hyderabad Doctors, A Shootout In SUV And A Suicide
Dr Shashi Kumar's body was found this morning at a friend's farmhouse near Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: A dispute between three Hyderabad doctors who ran a hospital together climaxed yesterday with a shootout in an SUV and then a suicide.

Dr Shashi Kumar, 40, shot himself with the same gun that he had used on his colleague Uday Kumar on Monday. His body was found at a friend's farmhouse near Hyderabad.

The police, who had been looking for Dr Kumar since the shooting, also found a bottle of poison and a suicide note.

Shashi Kumar, Uday Kumar and a third doctor, Saikumar, were partners in a multi-specialty hospital that opened earlier this month.

Shashi Kumar, a surgeon, had invited the other two to lunch at a restaurant and wanted to discuss the future of their hospital.

On finding the restaurant crowded, the three reportedly left, parked their SUV in a lane and talked. An argument broke out in the car and Dr Kumar allegedly took out his gun and shot Uday Kumar at close range. The bullet nicked the tip of Uday Kumar's ear.

A wounded Uday Kumar, say the police, managed to get an auto-rickshaw and go to a hospital.

The doctors had reportedly invested 15 crores in the hospital.

The police say Shashi Kumar was upset that Uday Kumar and Sai Kumar had taken the top positions of CEO and managing director at the hospital and wanted to exit the venture.
