Hyderabad: Five people have died in a blast at a fire cracker manufacturing unit near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh this afternoon, according to reports.
Eyewitnesses said the bodies were flung up in the air following the impact of the blast.
Nearly 10 others are said to be critically injured and have been taken to a hospital.
The fire cracker unit is located between Yelamanchali and Nakkapalli in the Visakhapatnam district.
Sources say the manufacturing unit had a valid licence, but may not have taken precautions.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced Rs 2 lakh as compensation for the families of the victims.
