Hyderabad: Five men who allegedly teased a woman tourist from Norway in a private bus were arrested in Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh, police said today.
The accused aged around 25, who were drunk, teased the Norwegian woman last night while the bus was passing through Nizamabad district. They allegedly threatened the bus driver Jamaluddin Khan and fellow passengers when they tried to intervene, they said.
The bus driver then drove the bus to Dichpally police station and lodged a complaint against them, a senior police officer told PTI adding they were arrested and remanded to judicial custody today.
The Norwegian woman, on a tour of India, was on her way to Shirdi from Hyderabad in the private bus and the accused, all from Hyderabad, had also boarded the same bus, police said.
They were booked under Sections 290 (public nuisance), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
