Hyderabad:
A final year engineering student has been arrested in Hyderabad on charges of car theft. Three stolen cars - including a BMW - have been recovered from his home.
Tiruveedula Suman, 21, used to steal fancy cars from the parking of hotels and malls which offered valet parking, a police officer said. He conned the parking security personnel into handing him the keys.
"He started stealing cars in October 2013 and used to drive the stolen cars after changing the number plates," said deputy commissioner of police A Venkateswara Rao.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Suman during a vehicle check on Sunday evening.
They subsequently recovered a BMW and two other stolen cars, together worth Rs 56 lakh, from his house at Srinagar Colony.
According to police officers, Suman, who is from the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, is a final year B-Tech student at a city-based college.
