Hyderabad: Two men have been arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly gang raping a college student and blackmailing her with pictures of her with her boyfriend, the police said today.
The alleged rape took place on Monday on the outskirts of Hyderabad; the 22-year-old student filed a police case on Wednesday.
A police officer said the young woman, who is an engineering student, was with her boyfriend in an abandoned building when two men filmed them on their cellphones. They reportedly threatened to upload the pictures on the internet and then beat up the girl's companion before forcing him to leave. The police says the suspects then took turns raping the student.
After releasing the woman, they allegedly phoned her and warned that if she reported the story, they would post her pictures online.
However, the woman eventually decided to ask the police for help.
Police also suspect the involvement of the accused in similar crimes in the past.
