Hyderabad: Gold worth over Rs 28 lakh seized at airport

Hyderabad: Customs Officials today seized over 900 grams of gold worth over Rs 28 lakh from two passengers in separate cases at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad in Hyderabad.

The Air Intelligence Wing of Customs intercepted a passenger identified as Mohammed Iqbal from Kerala, who arrived by a flight from Dubai in Hyderabad this morning. After checking it was found that he had brought 467 grams of gold wires in the form of metal wires by concealing them inside six pairs of ladies inner-wear.

Similarly, another passenger who also came by the same flight, Shaik Jaleel of Hyderabad, brought 465 grams of gold ornaments in the form of chain and armlet, a Customs Official said.

Customs officials seized 932 grams of gold from both the passengers, worth Rs 28,14,640. The duo was later let off.
