Hyderabad region most developed, housing census data shows

Hyderabad: Hyderabad and the neighbouring district of Ranga Reddy rank at the top in Andhra Pradesh on various development parameters such as access to drinking water, power and houses with concrete roof.

Supply of drinking water through taps is highest in Hyderabad (97.8 per cent) followed by Ranga Reddy (87 per cent), according to the house-listing and housing census data of Andhra Pradesh - Phase I of Census of India 2011.

Fetching water from farther sources is higher in Adilabad (32.2 per cent), Prakasam (29.9 per cent) and
Mahabubnagar (29.1 per cent) districts.

Apart from the state capital, Ranga Reddy and Kadapa districts top the list in electrification of households.

Hyderabad (98.5 per cent), Ranga Reddy (81.4 per cent) and Krishna (70.4 per cent) have high percentage of latrine facility within the premises.

In the matter of access to bathing facility, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, Krishna (62.6 per cent), Kurnool (58.6 per cent) and West Godavari (57.8 per cent) top the list.

LPG is used as fuel mostly in Krishna (51.6 per cent) and Guntur (50.4 per cent) after Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy.

53.1 per cent of households avail of banking services in the state, and Chittoor, Anantapur and Ranga Reddy top the list.

78.5 per cent families live in own house in the state, in which Mahabubnagar (91.6 per cent) followed by Srikakulam (88.6 per cent) and Nalgonda (86.9 per cent) rank highest.

Nizamabad (72.6 per cent) tops the list in access to telephone facility, Krishna (64.7 per cent) in possession of television, Visakhapatnam (11.1 per cent) in computers, and Visakhapatnam and Krishna in ownership of vehicles. Use of concrete roof for houses was found highest in Hyderabad (67.2 per cent) followed by Nellore.

Grass or thatched roof is mostly found in Kurnool (41 per cent) and Mahabubnagar (25.7 per cent). Burnt brick is used as wall material mostly in Vizianagaram (65 per cent) followed by Srikakulam district.
Stone as wall-material is most common in Kurnool (75.3 per cent) and Krishna (41.3 per cent) districts.

The data showed that 30.9 per cent of households are four-member ones. The percentage of single-member households is high in East Godavari and Krishna districts.
