Hyderabad:
A senior bank official was shot at by an unidentified person at home in Hyderabad's Shantinagar area this afternoon. Manmadha Daliya has been hospitalized after the unidentified man came inside his house and shot at him around 12.30 pm. He was injured on his foot and has been hospitalized.
Mr Daliya is the Chief Executive Officer of the Krishna Bhima Samruddi bank, locally known as the KBS Bank.
The police say the assailant had come on bike. He managed to escape without being caught.
Shankar, the watchman of the apartment in the upper-middle class area, said the assailant -- about 25 to 30 years in age -- had come asking for directions to the home of the banker. He had even identified Mr Daliya's car.
He said he checked with Mr Daliya's wife over phone and then showed the man to the first-floor apartment.
After about 10 minutes, he was called again by a neighbour and they went into the flat to find Mr Daliya lying injured in the bedroom. His wife had been locked up in the bathroom.
Senior police officer of the area, A Venkateswar Rao, said it was not yet clear what the motive of the attack was. According to the police, Mr Daliya said the assailant claimed to be from police and asked for money. A case has been filed and investigations are on.
