Hyderabad:
Two journalists of a Telugu news channel were remanded in judicial custody by a local magistrate yesterday in a case registered against them for telecasting a news story on state Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy's meeting with a local spiritual leader in Hyderabad.
The two journalists were arrested by the Hussaini Alam police on Saturday after a complaint by the spiritual leader's family members who alleged that the channel had defamed him by "calling him a land grabber and doing black-magic".
The duo was sent to 13-day judicial custody after being produced before the magistrate at Saidabad.
Cases were booked against the channel on Friday following allegations that it morphed the visuals which were aired with a news report on a meeting between Dinesh Reddy and the spiritual leader.
