Hyderabad's traffic policeman Syed Merajuddin Hydri distributes six bottles of petrol every day.
Hyderabad:
Traffic policeman Syed Merajuddin Hydri leaves for work every day with six bottles of petrol -- for whoever runs out of fuel on the road. And he offers it to them free of cost.
The Assistant Sub-Inspector rank officer says he was inspired by a report on NDTV about a retired government employee who fills potholes.
"When I got a pay hike recently, I decided to use the money to help others. I see people struggling after they suddenly run out of fuel. So I decided to help them,'' he explains.
The traffic policeman refuses to accept any money in exchange for the fuel.
"I tell people, being a traffic policeman is not just about collecting fines or a bribe. What I do makes them smile. So I tell them, 'you also go and make someone smile','' he said.
Mr Hydri's popularity grew after social media posts by those he had helped. Now, his seniors are also proud of him for trying to positively change the image of the cop on the road.
