Just as in Hyderabad, the Cyberabad police too witnessed a fall in the number of cases of crime reported in 2011 but fatal accidents on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and its service roads became a cause for concern.
"We cannot control accidents with our existing manpower. We have recommended steps like construction of toll plazas on Outer Ring Road to reduce the number of accidents,'' Cyberabad police commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said on Thursday.
At their annual year ending press conference, the Cyberabad police said that with the opening of the Outer Ring Road for traffic without putting adequate infrastructure in place is causing many accidents. On the crime front, though there was a fall in reported incidents, there was an increase in the number of murders for gain and robberies.
Apart from events that require bandobust, the Cyberabad police are required to provide security to national and international events and visits of dignitaries. Several tournaments at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium at Uppal also kept the police on their toes.
