A police constable was killed and three others were injured after a speeding lorry overturned and fell on them near a check-post at Ramdevguda in the wee hours today.
A check-post was put up recently and a group of police constables were deployed near the check-post, police said.
The lorry-driver, who was apparently in a drunken state hit one of the barricades and lost control over the wheel following which the lorry overturned, killing constable Rahul Yadav, 23, on spot, Golconda Police Station Inspector Khaleel Pasha said.
"The lorry, which got dragged to a distance, also hit other constables resulting in injuries to three of them. All of them were rushed to different hospitals," the Inspector said, adding, the lorry driver was taken into custody.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy visited the accident spot and also the injured constables at different hospitals and met their family members and assured them of all necessary help from the government towards meeting their medical expenses. Further probe is on.
