With the arrest of 10 persons, Cyberabad Police have busted a gang which was involved in theft of heavy commercial vehicles.
Mohammed Ayub alias Bada Ayub, the gang leader, had been stealing parked vehicles along with his associates since 2012 from various places under Cyberabad and Hyderabad Police Commissionerates, Medak and Mahabubnagar districts of Telangana, police said today.
The robbers would dismantle the vehicles into small pieces by using gas cutters and sold them as scrap at different places, including a steel factory at Shadnagar here, they said.
Till now the gang has stolen 81 vehicles - 41 tippers,37 lorries and 3 tankers - valued at nearly Rs 1.15 crore, the police said, adding efforts are on to nab four other absconding accused.
