A man was arrested after video of him firing two pistols at his wedding surfaced on social media.
Hyderabad:
A newly-wed man in Hyderabad was arrested on Sunday after a video of him firing two pistols in celebration at his wedding party surfaced on social media.
The video shows Mohd Mohsin, alias Irfan, sitting atop a horse in his wedding attire, firing six rounds in the air as the poor horse shakes in fear. Members of the baraat are seen showering him with currency notes after each round is fired.
The police, who initially denied the incident, later formed four special teams to arrest him after the video went viral, to verify whose revolvers were used and whether they were licensed.
"He confessed that he had opened fire in the air from two dummy weapons during the celebration of his nikah on the night of August 22 and the weapons caused only sound and spark.", said Mohd Abdul Bari, Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The police said the pistols and ammunition have been sent to check for authenticity along with the video to determine if real weapons were used by the accused.
