Hyderabad:
A 41-year-old housewife, who recorded herself taking sleeping pills and then accusing her neighbour of abusing her, was rescued by a family member who she sent the video to, police said.
The woman, a tenant at an apartment in the Upperpally area in Hyderabad, tried to make a video of her suicide attempt after her neighbour, who she named as Syed Saleem, allegedly abused her.
In the selfie video, the woman is seen ingesting something in her mouth and then drinking water. She then goes on to make the allegations against Syed Saleem.
The woman sent the video to members of her family, one of whom, upon seeing the video, went to her house, and took her to the Osmania General Hospital for treatment, the police said.
Syed Saleem is a member of the apartment association where the woman was staying. Allegedly, when the association notified her of the hike in maintenance charges of her flat, Saleem abused her over the issue which led to her lodging a complaint with the police on Saturday. A case was filed based on her complaint, a police official told the Press Trust of India
"Today the complainant attempted suicide by swallowing sleeping tablets and made a video of the same and sent it to her family members, accusing Saleem of making comments against her on a social networking site," the police official said on Tuesday.
The police official said she is in stable condition now, adding that the police are trying to verify her allegations.
