New Delhi:
There were 103 incidents of planes landing under emergency conditions since 2011 till date across the country, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In the past three years till date, a total of 103 incidents of emergency or rough landing have taken place, Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal said in reply to a question.
During the same period, a total of 247 flights were cancelled due to fog in Delhi, he said in reply to another question.
According to latest reports, there were a total of 2,452 pilots who were trained to operate under heavy to very heavy fog or are capable of landing or taking off under Category II or III Instrument Landing System.
These pilots included 635 of Air India and 660 of Jet Airways, Venugopal said.
To another question, he said Air India would induct six new Boeing 787 Dreamliners in 2014.
"The proceeds received on sale of five Boeing 777-200 aircraft and sale and leaseback of Boeing 787s will be adequate (for Air India) to repay the aircraft loans," he said.
