Hailakandi, Assam:
11 people have died due to landslides in southern Assam's Barak Valley region this morning after heavy rain over the last 24 hours in the state, particularly in the southern part.
Six people, including two children, died this morning at Ramkhal Punji in the Cachar district.
In another incident at Ramchandi Tea Garden in the Hailakandi district, a five year old boy died in a landslide. His parents sustained serious injuries.
Four people also died in a separate landslide incident on the Assam-Mizoram border.
Train services between Guwahati and Silchar in the Cachar district have been suspended indefinitely and there have been breaches on many roads including crucial national highways at many places.
The weather department has put out a heavy rain warning for Arunachal Pradesh for tomorrow which means that other parts of Assam could be affected too.
So far six districts and 70,000 people have been affected by floods and landslides.
