Mumbai: 12 people including three minors, have been arrested for brutally beating a college student to death in Mumbai. Junior college student, Ansh Agarwal was bludgeoned to death in Mumbai's suburban Andheri on Tuesday night. Ironically the main accused in the case, studied with Ansh in the same tuition class.
"He was hit with bamboo sticks and metal rods. He tried to save himself and ran to the other side of the road. He fell down there and died after being hit by a stone on the head," said Ansh's cousin Anand Agarwal.
According to the police, Ansh was beaten up by around 30 boys from his college because he objected to an SMS that the main accused sent to his girlfriend. They say, Ansh's girlfriend got some lewd messages from the main accused and when Ansh got to know there was a scuffle between the two boys.
On Tuesday evening, the boys landed up at Ansh's house and when they didn't find him at home, they abducted his little brother. Ansh was then told to come to a particular place where the boys were waiting for him. He was then beaten up and later succumbed to his injuries.
"We have also detained around 8-10 people for investigation. They have been arrested on charges of murder, unlawful assembly and rioting. Some of the boys are minors' said Suhas Warke, the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The boys will be produced in a local court on Thursday.
