New Delhi:
Thousands of people hit some rough weather on Tuesday when their Jet Airways flights were cancelled as more than 360 pilots stayed away from work.
These pilots were not demanding more pay or better working conditions, but the reinstatement of two of their colleagues. And despite threats from the management and the government, the pilots stuck to their guns and there's no saying yet if they'll be back at work on Wednesday.
Here's a complete look back at what happened:
- 363 Jet pilots went on 'sick leave' on Tuesday after officially calling off a proposed strike
- 186 flights were cancelled through the day, which left 13,000 passengers grounded
- Jet pilots are demanding that teo sacked colleagues be reinstated
- The airline says this mass leave by pilots is illegal
- The government could get tough and invoke the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA)
- The Jet management also approached the Bombay High Court which said pilots can't strike
