Bhopal: A 14-year-old girl from Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh district has died after she was allegedly raped and set on fire by a 17-year-old boy from her village.
According to the victim's family, the accused barged into their house on Monday evening when the teenager was alone and allegedly raped her. Her younger brother says when he reached home, he saw the accused at his place and tried to stop him. But unable to overpower him, he rushed to a nearby farm to call his father. By the time they returned, the brother says, the accused had fled and his sister had suffered 75 per cent burn injuries.
The victim, a tribal, was rushed to a nearby hospital, but she died there later.
The police have charged the accused named by the victim's brother with rape and murder. He is yet to be traced.
