Chandigarh: Two people were injured in an explosion on a private bus in Haryana today. The incident was the fourth of its kind in the state this year.

The blast took place a little before 11 am near Bhuna in the Fatehabad district of Haryana, on the western edge of the state, about 200 km from capital Chandigarh.

According to sources, the explosive device was kept in a black bag. Authorities suggest the use of sulphur, a key ingredient of firecrackers.

Senior police officers along with the bomb disposal squad and forensic experts have reached the spot and are investigating the incident.

Sources said the explosive device was kept inside a black bag.

"Though this incident looks like a mischief but given the fact that three similar blasts have accrued in recent past, we are taking it seriously and investigation is being conducted," Ram Niwas, Home Secretary said.

Last month, eight people were hurt in a similar explosion on a public bus in Kurukshetra, 220 km from Delhi.

Officials had then indicated the incident was a terror attack and the investigation was handed over to the National Investigation Agency. There have been no concrete leads in the incident so far.

Earlier this year in January and March, similar low-intensity explosions had targeted passenger trains in Haryana's Panipat. No one had been hurt in the incidents.
