Dehradun:
At least 15 persons were killed and 18 others injured when a state-owned bus skidded off Ranikhet-Haldwani state highway and fell into a gorge.
The bus, which was on its way to Delhi from Ranikhet, fell into the gorge at Bhajon area after its driver allegedly lost control over the wheels.
Eleven bodies were recovered in the first few hours. The toll increased later on.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals and rescue operations began soon after.
Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhiryal has ordered an inquiry and announced an ex- gratia payment of Rs 50 thousand to the family of dead.
