Sixteen infants have died over six days in Kolkata's BC Roy Hospital, senior health officials in the city confirmed. The cause of the deaths is yet to be ascertained.
Last year, in June and July, as many as 33 infants died in Malda Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal. Doctors then said the deaths were due to low birth weight, malnutrition and respiratory problems.
