16 killed in Gadchiroli Naxal attack

Nagpur: Naxals were on the rampage again in Gadchiroli in Maharashtra. In one of the worst attacks  of its kind in Dhanora, Maharashtra, 16 policemen including an inspector were killed in an ambush.

For the first time four of them were women constables.

The police patrol had gone to inspect a hilly area when Naxals cut trees blocking the roads; they attacked and killed the police personnel.

It was an incident that brings back memories of the last big assault by Naxals in February when 15 policemen were ambushed and killed. A stark reminder, yet again of one of India's biggest challenges.
