Gondia, Maharashtra: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by four men following which two of them were arrested, police said today.

The survivor, a Class X student who resides with her father and elder brother in Basantnagar locality, she had gone to meet her relatives and returned on Monday evening by train at Gondia railway station.

Two of the accused, 23-year-old Nitesh Ramdas Bramhankar and 24-year-old Chottu alias Prashant Motghare, spotted her alone in the station premises and struck up a conversation with her, Government Railway Police (GRP) said.

During the conversation, the girl told them she was without a train ticket. The duo asked her to accompany them to avoid getting caught by ticket checker, they said.

They took her to an abandoned house in Suryatola area near railway crossing and allegedly raped her. Two of their friends - 22-year-old Kalim Rafiq Khan and 26-year-old Mukesh Devidas Meshram - came to the spot and they, too, sexually assaulted her, police said. The girl later narrated the incident to her family members, who lodged a police complaint.

Taking swift action, police today nabbed Khan and Meshram, while Motghare and Bramhankar were still at large.
