The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has suspended 17 jawans for allegedly not providing back-up support to their colleagues during an encounter in the Tahakwada region of Bastar district in March this year.
17 security officials who were part of a team escorting construction workers were killed in the encounter.
Among those found guilty by an internal investigation conducted by the CRPF are one sub inspector, two assistant sub inspectors and 14 constables.
Another head constable of the Chhattisgarh police has been suspended for allegedly sharing the information of their movement with the Naxals on the day of the encounter.
