Jaipur:
At least 18 labourers, including 11 women, were killed and 16 others injured when an overloaded pickup van rammed into a stationary truck in Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district tonight.
The accident took place in Dholapani area of the district when the labourers were returning to their village after work, police said.
"The pickup van rammed into a stationary truck leaving 14 people, including 11 women, dead. Four persons succumbed to injuries on way to a hospital in Udaipur," Sub Inspector Ratan Lal said.
He said that 15 injured were admitted to the hospital in Udaipur and one in Pratapgarh.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje announced ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each for the next of the kin of the deceased.
She also announced a financial assistance of Rs 25,000 each for critically injured and Rs 2,500 each for other injured who are not critical.
