Congress leader Ajay Maken (left) releasing the booklet on Monday
New Delhi:
The Opposition Congress has accused the Narendra Modi government at the Centre of making many U-turns during its six months in power and claims it is counting. It has published in a booklet of what it calls the "25 U-turns of the government in 180 days" and spokesperson Ajay Maken alleged that there have been three more since then.
"This government will be known as the U-turn government," Mr Maken said releasing the 30-page booklet titled "
chhe mahine paar, U-turn sarkar" (Six months after,a U-turn sarkar).
He alleged that Prime Minister and his party have gone back on virtually every election promise they made, saying, "This government has made 25 U-turns in the last around 180 days. That's an average of one U-turn every seven to eight days."
Among issues that he listed were what he called the BJP government's changed stance on untaxed or black money and a land-swapping deal with Bangladesh.
Mr Maken alleged that the BJP had fooled the people with the sole intention of coming to power. "They only wanted to seize power even if it meant fooling the voters. They have misled the people of this nation."
