2 Children Burned To Death In Fire In Bihar Village

A team of doctors rushed at the spot to treat the injured persons.

Hajipur: Two children were burned to death and five others suffered severe injuries in a major fire that gutted 340 thatched houses at a village in Bihar's Vaishali district today.

While taking note of rise in such incidents throughout Bihar due to sweltering heat, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asked the administration to take effective measures for distribution of relief materials among the affected people.

Jandaha's Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Rana Kulbhushan Bahadur said that the fire broke out in a house in Sorhathi village and fanned by strong wind soon spread to adjoining areas gutting 340 houses even as a six year-old girl Karishma Kumari and five year-old boy Misan Kumar died due to burn injuries after getting trapped in the blaze.

Five other villagers sustained burn injuries, he said, adding the two bodies have been sent for post-mortem and a team of doctors rushed there to treat the injured persons.

In a similar incident in Jasraha village, 22 thatched houses were razed down in blaze, Bahadur said, adding that directives have been issued to the local officials for distribution of relief materials among the fire-affected people.
