New Delhi:
Two men have been arrested for the alleged gang-rape of a schoolgirl inside a car at an upscale south Delhi area on Tuesday night.
The girl, a student of a private school in south Delhi, was reportedly invited for a drive by Rohit, a 22-year-old man she said knew through a friend. He was later joined by two of his friends, Narendra and Tinku.
The police said the men, who lived in the same area as the girl, offered her some drink laced with sedatives. Then they drove to an isolated parking lot and took turns to rape her in the car.
The men later dumped the girl on a road near her house and drove off.
Rohit and Narendra have been arrested, while the third man is still missing.
Last month, four men were given the death sentence for gang-raping a medical student on a moving bus in Delhi in December, a case which saw India gripped by anger and grief. Six men were arrested for the attack; one, who was under 18 at the time, was given the maximum sentence of three years in a reform home by a juvenile court. Another, Ram Singh, committed suicide in his prison cell in March during his trial.
