19 Norovirus Cases Reported In Kerala: All About The Contagious Infection

Last year, in June, two students from the state tested positive for norovirus.

Nineteen students have tested positive for the highly contagious gastrointestinal illness, norovirus, in Kerala's Ernakulam district today. The school has switched to online mode for classes 1 to 5 following the outbreak.

  4. The first documented norovirus outbreak in Kerala was reported in Alappuzha district in June last year. Around 950 cases of acute diarrhoeal diseases linked to norovirus were reported in 2021 from the Alappuzha municipality and nearby panchayats. The outbreak lasted for a month and a half.

  5. Last year, in June, two students from the state tested positive for the infection.
