Srinagar: Two policemen including an officer were killed in terrorist attack in Anantnag town of south Kashmir. This is the second major attack on security forces in last 24 hours in the area.
The cops came under heavy firing when they were deployed near bus stand in Anantnag.
Two personnel including an assistant sub inspector were killed. The two cops have been identified as Assistant sub-inspector Bashir Ahmad and constable Reyaz Ahmad.
On Friday, three BSF personnel were killed and seven others were injured when terrorists attacked their convoy at Bijbehara.
Anantnag will go to polls on June 22. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is contesting from here. She has to be elected for the Jammu and Kashmir legislature within mandatory 6 months period after she was sworn in. Ms Mufti took over as the chief minister two months ago.
The attacks are likely to impact the election process as separatist groups have also called for boycott of the polls.
