J&K Encounter: Around four terrorists behind the recent killing of two village guards in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district have been cornered and an encounter is on, said police. An army officer and another soldier have suffered injuries in the heavy exchange of fire.
Terrorists had kidnapped the two village defence guards from Adhwari and shot them dead on Thursday. The same terrorists have been trapped by security forces, confirmed Kishtwar police.
"Encounter begins at Keshwan Kishtwar between terrorists and Security forces. 3/4 terrorists believed to be trapped. This is same group which killed the 2 innocent villagers," they said.
This is the third encounter in Jammu and Kashmir reported in the past 24 hours.
Earlier in the day, an exchange of fire began between terrorists and security forces during an anti-terror operation in the Zabarwan forest in Srinagar.
"A joint Police and security forces operation was launched in Zabarwan forest area of #Srinagar based on specific intelligence about the presence of #terrorists. An exchange of fire ensued during the operation," said Kashmir Zone Police.
This followed an encounter in the Baramullah district yesterday during which the forces gunned down a terrorist. The security forces and state police had launched a joint operation in Rajpura after noticing suspicious activity in the region.
The encounter broke out after terrorists opened fire at the forces, said the Indian Army's Chinar Corps. "One terrorist has been neutralised by the security forces in the ongoing Operation in general area Rajpura, Sopore, Baramulla," they said.
