Two senior army officers recently cleared for promotion are being investigated for corruption by the CBI.
The officers, of Major General rank, had recently been cleared by the Army for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant General, but Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has today asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to determine how the pair collected wealth and assets that allegedly cannot be accounted for.
The promotions, sanctioned by the Army, have not been cleared by the Appointments Committee of the cabinet.
