Jammu: Two Special Police Officers (SPOs), who had deserted the police force last month and joined terrorism, were today shot dead in an encounter with Army in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
This is after four years that an encounter has taken place in Doda district, which has been almost free from any presence of militants.
Reyaz Ahmed and Gul Mohammad, both locals of Doda, were killed in a gun battle at Gadi Nallah that started late last night.
Both had surrendered to the Army in 2010 to join the state police as special police officers.
However, last month, they deserted the police force with their service weapons to return to terrorism.
