2010's first ceasefire violation by Pakistan

Akhnoor sector, Jammu and Kashmir: Pakistan has again violated ceasefire at the Line of Control (LoC). One jawan was killed after a Border Security Force (BSF) party came under fire from the Pakistan side at the LoC in the Sabziyan sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Monday's incident is the first violation along the LoC this year.

Intelligence sources said there has been no change in Pakistan's attitude towards waging a proxy war in India. They said 40 launch pads have been reactivated across the border in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and 1,200 terrorists are waiting to sneak in.

The sources said the militants were attempting to infiltrate through new routes despite  the closure of mountain passes. The dense fog and low visibility are also helping the cause of the militants.

There has also been a spurt in attempts to infiltrate in the last 48 hours, with two being foiled in the Akhnoor sector alone.

Last night, militants also triggered an explosion and cut the border fence. This was followed by heavy exchange of fire between the militants and the BSF,

More incidents of infiltration attempts and stepped-up violence are expected in the coming weeks.
