Faridabad: A little known village in Haryana is making headlines all thanks to its chief. The 22-year-old Anju Yadav made history after she became the youngest sarpanch of Haryana's Chandavali village, and now, she has installed CCTVs in her village at the time when many others are struggling to get electricity.
The village in Faridabad district has a population of 8,000 people. 72 solar powered CCTVs have been installed on street corners to ensure safety of its residents.
"After the industries started coming around this area, a large number of people started coming in from different places, for security reasons, this was the requirement."
Ms Yadav does not have staff to monitor the cameras yet, so she has set up a control room in her house and her family shares the responsibility of keeping an eye.
"Many false complaints have ceased to come, crime rate has dipped. Many people who would be selling illegal liquor in the night or would be doing any nefarious activities feel afraid to do so," said sub Inspector Basant Kumar.
"Four more villages around the area have asked us to install these cameras," said Baldev Kumar Chaudhary who's public sector undertaking BP India made the provisions.
