Coimbatore:
Twenty three people were injured today when country-made bombs used to scare away wild boars in farms exploded after a tractor ran over a bag containing the explosives at a bus stand in Tiruppur district.
The injured included six women and four students, police said.
A man, supplying the bombs to farmers in nearby area, had kept the bag when the tractor drove over it while taking reverse, causing a loud explosion at the Kuzhumam bus stand near Udumalpet, 70 km from here, police said.
Twenty three persons standing nearby were hit by splinters and have been hospitalised in Udumalpet, they said, adding a woman was admitted to government hospital here.
