Morena, Madhya Pradesh: A group of 25 armed men attacked a police station in the Morena part of Madhya Pradesh today, about 450 km from Bhopal, to release a local businessman who had been arrested.
Two policemen from Delhi who had travelled to Madhya Pradesh to collect the businessman were injured.
They arrested local liquor baron Sanjeev Singh Kansana at his home early in the morning and then took him to a nearby police station.
He was meant to be moved to Delhi later today.
The businessman's younger brother, Raghuraj Singh Kansana, who is also a local politician, was accompanied by 25 armed men, when he opened fire at the police station and managed to leave with the arrested man. The police has not arrested anyone from the gang yet.
The businessman is wanted in a case of fraud in Delhi. He allegedly took one crore from a man in Delhi for a plot of land in the capital but has not delivered the property after that.
